SynopsisThediffusionpropertyoftumortissueslargelydependsoncelldensity,ravoxelincoherentmotion(IVIM)imagingisanextensionofdiffusionweightedimaging(DWI)paringtheIVIMparametersbetweencarcinoma(HCC),hepatichemangiomaandhepaticmetastasis,wefoundthatIVIMcanfacilitatesunderstandingoftumortissuecharacteristicsofperfusionanddiffusion,anditmayprovidemoreusefulinformationtodistinguishhemangiomasfromothertwomalignanttumors.

TargetaudiencePhysiciansandscientistswhoareinterestedinthediagnosisofhepatocellularcarcinoma(HCC),hepatichemangiomaandhepaticmetastasis,aswhileastheapplicationofIVIMinabdomen.

PurposePerfusionisanimportantphenomenonofmanyphysiologicalorpathologicalprocesses[1].Intravoxelincoherentmotion(IVIM)imagingisanextensionofdiffusionweightedimaging(DWI)isreportedthatIVIMimagingmaybeusefulfordifferentiatingsofttissuetumors[2].OurstudywastoassesstheIVIMparametersfordifferentialdiagnosinghepatocellularcarcinoma(HCC),hepatichemangiomaandhepaticmetastasis.

MethodsSeventy-oneconsecutivepatients(40men:31women,meanage,62years)with33hepatocellularcarcinomas(HCCs),Iwasperformedusinga1.5-TMRimager(GE-SignaHDXT)inaprotocolcontainingtheroutineT1WI,T2WIand19bvalues(0,10,30,50,80,,,,,,,,,0,0,0,0,2and0s/mm2)IMparameters(ADCstandard,ADCslow,ADCfast,andf)ofhepatocellularcarcinoma(HCC),hepatichemangiomaandhepaticmetastasisweremeasuredbyusingtheFuncToolonGEAW4.6workstation(Figure1).TheMRimageswereblindlyreviewedandanalyzedbytwoobserverswhohave3and10years’eSPSS17.0statisticalsoftwarehasbeenusedforthedataanalysis,raclasscorrelationcoefficient(ICC)testwasappliedtotesttheconsistencyoftwoobservers;
