ABSTRACT

Purpose:

Toinvestigatethesafetyandefficacyoftransarterialchemoembolizationusingdoxorubicindrug-elutingbeads(DEBs)inpatientswithBarcelonaClinicLiverCancer(BCLC)Cstagehepatocellularcarcinoma(HCC).

Methods:

ConsecutivepatientswithinitialstagingofBCLCCHCCwhoreceivedDEBtransarterialchemoembolizationoverthelast5yearswerestudied.Thestudyincludedpatients(meanage,61.2yearsold).Adverseevents(AEs)afterDEBtransarterialchemoembolizationwerestudiedindetailandwererecordedaspertheNationalCancerInstituteCommonTerminologyCriteriaforAdverseEventsversion4.03criteria.SurvivalswereanalyzedaccordingtoparametersfromthetimeoffirstDEBtransarterialchemoembolization.Kaplan-Meiermethodbylog-ranktestandCoxproportionalhazardmodelwereusedforsurvivalanalysis.

Results:

AEsoccurredin30.2%ofpatients.NoAEsweregreaterthanCommonTerminologyCriteriaforAdverseEventsgradeIII.GradeIandIIAEsincludednauseaandvomitingin7.8%ofpatientsandabdominalpainin23.8%ofpatients.GradeIIIAEswerenotedin1.06%ofpatients.Therewerenogastrointestinalorhepatic
